Faculties

Faculty of Leisure

The Faculty of Leisure focuses on preparing graduates for entry level positions within the rapidly developing and diverse fields of Sport and Travel and Tourism. In the past decade, the Leisure Industry has matured significantly, which has presented new and exciting employment opportunities for individuals. The IIE’s Leisure Faculty has responded to these new demands by offering programmes that prepare graduates with the necessary specific knowledge, skills and competencies, while also equipping graduates with a myriad of generic skills and competencies relevant beyond the Leisure Industry. The Faculty focuses on preparing graduates for sustainable employment, and both vertical and horizontal movement within the working environment. The new three year qualifications, the Diploma in Sport Development and Management and the Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management, allows for specialisation within the qualifications, therefore further equipping graduates for employment within niche areas of the Leisure Industry.

The IIE is a member of both The Association of South African Travel Agents (ASATA) and The Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA).
