The Independent Institute of Education believes that a holistic education includes students engaging with the values associated with citizenship and being given opportunities to serve their communities and/or develop a deeper understanding of key social issues. Therefore, programmes of community awareness, social awareness campaigns and structured citizenship activities are available on all campuses. Wherever feasible work integrated learning curricula include work with and for social and community based organisations or initiatives.
Volunteerism is actively promoted - by combining volunteer and community service opportunities with programme specific work related skills, students are able to gain valuable experience they can present when seeking employment.
Similarly, staff on the campuses and at the central head offices engage in citizenship projects either alongside the students or as part of a CSI programme.
