    Gerald holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree from Monash South Africa, and a Master of Arts in Communication from the UNISA. Gerald’s research interests include Gender Representations in Media and Queer theory and has published his research in an academic journal, supervised honours students, and co-authored textbooks in the fields of Business Communication and Research Methodology.

  • Brief Bio

    Jared has worked extensively in higher education since graduating with his MA in 2010, first as a contract lecturer and curriculum and assessment developer in the English, Communication and Media Studies disciplines at The IIE’s Varsity College, and then as Head of Programme (and now Deputy Head of Faculty) within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at The IIE’s central academic team. Jared’s MA dissertation was titled “Beyond the Inferno: Literary Representations of New York City Before and After 9/11”. Jared is currently enrolled for his PhD in English at the University of Pretoria, focusing on a critical analysis of the dialectic between humour and resilience in selected South African texts written before and during the Covid-19 lockdown.

    Yemisi has been a registered Clinical Psychologist for many years, with experience in primary and tertiary health care. She has also lectured and supervised research to postgraduate level. She is a former executive committee member of the South African Society for Clinical Psychology. Currently, she is working on her doctoral studies.

    Lorin completed a MA in Corporate Communication and is currently a PhD student at the University of Johannesburg in the department of Strategic Communication. Lorin has lectured Public Relations, Communication and Marketing Communication modules at the IIE Rosebank College and the Former IIE College Campus from 2007. She is currently peer reviewing a textbook for Strategic Communication and working towards contributing to a chapter for a Consumer Behaviour textbook.

    Molebogeng is a University of the Free State (UFS) alumni and she holds a Master’s degree in Health Communication, as well as an Honours and a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate and Marketing Communication, both obtained with distinction. 


    Molebogeng’s research interests lie in the fields of Health Communication, Disability Studies, Universal Access, Inclusive Education and Rural Development. Molebogeng has supervised Honours students, presented at numerous local and international conferences and is currently working on a textbook chapter in Tourism and Disability.

    Linda Fekisi is a journalist and academic. Her Master’s was a comparative study of Drum magazine’s coverage of the 1976 Soweto Uprisings to the 2015 Fees Must Fall protests. 

    She’s an avid supporter of contextual storytelling, exploring hidden narratives and challenging misrepresentation.
